One of the most prestigious universities in the world – Luigi Bocconi University of Economics in Milan, celebrated March 8 – International Women’s Day, by launching the volume “Changed by Women.” Produced in collaboration with journalist Diana Cavalcoli from Corriere della Sera, the volume presents the success stories of 99 graduates of the university, selected from over 120 years of activity. Among the selected graduates is the pianist Sînziana Mircea, the only Romanian included in this top.
“It is an immense privilege to be included among the 99 graduates of all time, selected by Bocconi to be featured in this book. All the more so since this year Bocconi Business School, from which I graduated, ranked third in the list of the best business schools in the world,” said pianist and composer Sînziana Mircea.
99 Success Stories “Changed by Women”
Among the 99 success stories are: Alice Acciarri – General Manager of e-Bay Italy, Silvia Ardagna – Chief European Economist at Barclays, Elisa Balbo – world-renowned soprano, Silvia Candiani – Vice-President of Microsoft, Margherita Della Valle – CEO of Vodafone Group, Francesca Cornelli – Dean of Kellogg School of Management/ Northwestern University Chicago, Roberta Gatti – World Bank Chief Economist for EMEA, Elisabetta Magistretti – the first CEO of UniCredit Bank, Titti Postiglione – Deputy Head of the Department for Civil Protection Italy.
Pianist Sînziana Mircea, a graduate of the Master’s program in Arts Management, has distinguished herself both through her concert career on the world’s major stages and through her activities as a university professor, researcher, and cultural entrepreneur. Sînziana’s musical projects have stood out for their innovative character, this being the trademark of the Romanian musician. Thus, the musician has realized restitutions of the world musical heritage by presenting for the first time works from the 18th century, discovered by her in the archives of Italian conservatories. Her concert programs, presented with great success by both the public and the critics worldwide, include both classical repertoire and the pianist’s compositions, in immersive music and light shows, where music is accompanied by video projections made with artificial intelligence.
Last Educational Projects and Concert of Sînziana Mircea
Sînziana is also involved in numerous educational projects dedicated to promoting young musicians, carried out through the Museart Association, founded by her in 2012.
Together with violinist Alexandru Tomescu, since 2023 Sînziana Mircea has held an extensive world tour on stages such as the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Silk Road Arts Center in Beijing, the Ljubljana Philharmonic, the National Dance Theatre in Budapest, and others.
“Bocconi opened the door to another world for me: it made me deeply understand that music becomes relevant if it is shared with the audience on a deeply emotional and sustainable level. Today’s audience seeks immersive, sensory experiences, and artistic performance, to remain relevant, must respond to these needs. I understood once again that the cultural sector has the power to regenerate and develop communities, whether small or large, in a wonderful way, and this must become a priority for every nation,” said pianist Sînziana Mircea.
The 99 success stories shed a strong light on the role of women in the transformation and progress of modern society, at a time when humanity is undergoing profound change, driven by some of the greatest and most diverse challenges.
